Endurance 10 Series

In September 2018, I had the privilege of joining the Ocean Observatories Institute, (OOI), on their fall research voyage aboard the R/V Sally Ride.

OOI's Endurance program involves the deployment and maintenance of buoys along the Oregon and Washington coastlines. These buoys  gather critical data about the conditions of our ocean. Every six months, they go out to gather the old buoys for cleaning and maintenance, and simultaneously release new buoys to avoid a gap in data.

When I was aboard the R/V Sally Ride, my goal was to document the OOI team's process through videos and photographs. But the 10 days I spent aboard were also used to formulate a personal project.

This series of prints will result in 6-9 completed works. As of December 2018, I have completed three. These are color reduction linocut prints depicting scenes that stuck with me the most during this voyage.
